Pursuant to the Jerusalem Embassy Act of 1995, the U.S. Embassy must be moved to Jerusalem unless the president signs a waiver stating that delaying the embassy move is “necessary to protect the national interests of the United States.” On June 1, the second day of Shavuot, President Donald Trump signed the waiver.
