
Senator Herb Kohl has served in the Senate since 1988. He has been a strong advocate and leader on children's and senior citizen's issues. Kohl authored legislation to expand school breakfast programs and other child nutritional programs and sponsored the Child Care Infrastructure Act. He also created a bill requiring handguns be sold with separate child safety locks. In defending the rights of older citizens, Kohl authored the bipartisan Older Worker Opportunity Act and introduced legislation requiring background checks for long term care employees. He has also authored two bills to expand access to affordable generic drugs, lowering the cost of health. Kohl serves on the Appropriations Committee, Special Committee on Aging and Senate Judiciary Committee. He currently resides in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
