Jewish Democrats Demand Stronger Response on KKK-Linked Endorsement
September 13, 2016
Washington D.C. - Republican Vice Presidential nominee Governor Mike Pence was asked in a CNN interview Monday whether he would call former KKK leader David Duke “deplorable.” His replied that he is “not in the name-calling business.” In response to his statement, the National Jewish Democratic Council released the following statement:
“This simply isn’t enough. By not condemning in the strongest terms those who support the KKK, Mike Pence enables the racist and anti-Semitic sentiments they pedal to continue in the mainstream. We are outraged that he sees it simply as ‘name-calling’ to condemn as deplorable those who espouse hateful rhetoric.
“This is unacceptable. Those who do not strongly reject individuals who espouse racism and anti-Semitism have no business leading the American people.”
