Anything is possible. For example in 1958 the GOP lost 13 Senate seats.
However, there is a huge difference between possible and likely. There is no better example of the hysterical overreaction to “conventional wisdom” than this type of debate nine months out from Election Day. If it makes Republican happy to speculate this far out about their chances of taking both Houses of Congress, far be it for me to spoil their fun. However, none of us has ANY idea of what will transpire over the course of nine months. Democrats would like nothing more than for our opponents to “count their chickens” while we focus on getting our message out to the American voter.
