The Washington Post today published an article chronicling the recent rise in threats against members of Congress due to the passage of health care reform.

 

Click here to read the full article. The number of elected officials who have received threats of violence for their positions is astonishing and should concern every citizen, regardless of political affiliation.

 

 

As the National Jewish Democratic Council has said previously, we strongly condemn this disturbing trend and believe that threats of violence significantly impair the health of our nation’s democracy. Additionally, we applaud the work of local and national law enforcement authorities for their vigilance and hard work in addressing the serious nature of threats against elected officials.
