The First Jewish Speaker in the House of Commons

The new Speaker was a member of the Conservative Party (Speakers by tradition eschew any partisan ties) and represented the constituency of Buckingham. Bercow has campaigned as a reformer and welcomes the role as an impartial voice in Parliament; his election was made possible by his bipartisan nature.
