The Huffington Post has published an interesting story on a staffer for a Tennessee State Representative who mistakenly emailed a racist photograph to other legislative staffers.

According to Nashville Scene Blogs, the photograph, showing thumbnails sized images of all the presidents, depicts Obama as a pair of “spooked” white eyes on a black background. “One would argue that forwarding an email like this…makes you look like an out-and-out bigot,” writes Caleb Hannan from Nashville Scene.

The staffer in question, Sherri Goforth, has already admitted to sending the email, under the subject line “Historical Keepsake Photo”, but says that she simply sent it to the “wrong” people. Goforth, an executive assistant for Tennessee State Rep. Diane Black (R-Gallatin) has received a letter of reprimand, but will reportedly be kept on staff.

is this a surprise? Racism is alive and well in the Republican South.
