Tea Party Activists Rally for AZ Immigration Law

This weekend, several hundred Tea Party activists gathered at the Arizona-Mexico border to show their support for Arizona’s controversial new immigration law. As the Associated Press reported, the activists heard from “more than a dozen conservative speakers, many of them candidates running for office in crowded Republican primaries.”

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, “known for his tough enforcement of immigration laws in Arizona’s most populous county” went so far as to say, “Don’t just say border enforcement, that’s a cop-out. Let’s say lock them up in the interior.”

This is yet another example of the Tea Party’s right wing antics. Recently we’ve seen certain Tea Party candidates and members stand in support of conservative blogger Andrew Breitbart, invoke abusive Holocaust rhetoric, express opposition to Social Security, and advocate for abolishing the Department of Education.
