Senate Begins Kagan Debate

On Tuesday, the Senate opened a full floor debate on the confirmation of Solicitor General Elena Kagan to the Supreme Court.  The Senate Judiciary Committee approved Kagan’s nomination earlier in July and this floor debate is “likely to result in her confirmation.”  The Senate plans to vote on the confirmation by the end of the week.
