It seems that the Republican Jewish Coalition (RJC) just became aware of the events we are sponsoring for the Inauguration. RJC posted an outdated item focused on an event we're co-sponsoring with J-Street. In her post yesterday, Shari Hillman asked, "NJDC - whose side are you on?"
That may have been a good question for RJC to ask if NJDC wasn't already on the record clearly supporting Israel and had we not already addressed this question in a JTA article from Monday. But, it seems that RJC's research department has taken a break. (Maybe, they're trying to escape from the hordes of Obama supporters descending on DC in the coming days and left a little early.) Let me ask my chief researcher, Dr. Google. Here are some links that might help Shari.
-Details of the event RJC is asking about. (Feel free to sign up!)
-The JTA article from four days ago, where she could have found Ira's response to her question.
("Here's the answer, Forman said his organization disagrees with J Street over its recent criticism of Israel's operation in Gaza, but that he's 'not in the business of making pariahs out of fellow Jewish organizations'
'We sponsor events with a broad range of groups,' he said, noting that his organization is co-sponsoring the major Jewish community inaugural event with AIPAC.")
-Here and here are our statements on the situation in Gaza. (Also, RJC might be interested in the statements from Democratic leadership and Democratic elected officials in support of Israel's right to self-defense)
I have an important question for Shari since I hear that RJC is co-sponsoring an event with NJDC!
RJC - whose side are you on?
