Obama Will Renew the Peace Process

Haaretz is reporting that President Barack Obama will call for a return to the Middle East peace process.

According to the article, a crucial feature of Obama’s plan is a “binding timetable for negotiations on the core issues involved in a final resolution of the conflict.”

The Obama plan could breathe new life into negotiations between the Israeli government and the Palestinian Authority, which have been at a standstill for over six months.

According to a “senior diplomat” featured the article, the U.S. is willing to reach a compromise with Israeli on the issue of settlements. The plan will also reportedly include several “confidence building measures” on the part of the Israeli government towards the Palestinians, which could increase Arab governments’ comfort level with Israeli PM Benyamin Netanyahu.
