President Barack Obama released a statement today, praising the efforts of the Senate HELP committee, and the Kennedy-Dodd health care reform bill.

Obama noted that the bill contained many reforms he had endorsed, including insurance exchanges and prohibiting insurance companies for refusing coverage on the grounds of pre-existing conditions.

The bill also contains a public health insurance option that Obama believes, “would make health care affordable by increasing competition, providing more choices in keeping the insurance companies honest.”
