Obama Considering “Extreme” Iran Sanctions

Yesterday, The New York Times reported that the Obama administration is considering imposing “an extreme economic sanction” against Iran should it fail to come to the table to negotiate its nuclear program. The sanctions would cut off 40 percent of Iran’s gasoline and refined oil imports. Currently, Iran does not have enough refining capacity to meet its own needs using the oil it produces.

A bill that would allow Obama to impose the sanctions has 71 cosponsors on the Senate and is expected to pass the House.

He should. We should be requesting countries like Japan and Germany do the same while strengthening ties with the East.
