NJDC calls Kucinich Letter Reckless, Urges Members of Congress to Reject It

Today, the National Jewish Democratic Council (NJDC) criticized the content of a letter Representative Dennis Kucinich is circulating and urges Democratic Members of Congress to reject its reckless message.

Ira N. Forman, CEO of the NJDC stated that the Kucinich letter to President Obama is factually incorrect and unfortunately dismissive of those who would contest his analysis.

Forman indicated that, “Congressman Kucinich’s assertion that Israel’s actions in boarding the Mavi Marmara can not be justified under international law runs directly counter to the opinion such respected foreign policy observers such as Leslie Gelb. Moreover, Kucinich is blind to the serious responsibility of both so-called “peace activists” and the state of Turkey in provoking this incident and ignores the historical reality that Israel has a proven track record of fair and impartial review of its own military’s actions.”

Forman went on to state that, “NJDC neither dismisses the unfortunate loss of life in this incident nor advocates that the state of Israel is ever beyond criticism. Nonetheless, it is not constructive, as this letter does, to state that ‘all people of good will’ must agree with his extremely one-sided analysis. We urge Democratic Members of Congress to avoid signing on to this letter.”

Dennis Kucinich is completely detached from reality. Every nation is entitled to their own Customs and Border Protection. Everyone coming in declares themselves beforehand and gets checked, all goods and vehicles are subject to search and seizure. Obviously he’s never been to Canada. In space there are no passports….

Speaking as a liberal, I have to ask: What is it with these liberals?  I don’t get it. Have they forgotten (or never learned) the history of Israel?

Kucinich is one of the very few who voted not to place sanctions on Iran’s petro chemical industry.  It is clear that he has an outsize animus for Israel, yet is silent on human rights abuses.  I did not hear him protest the sinking of the South Korean ship where 46 people were killed.  As much as I strongly identify as a liberal Democrat, under no condition would I ever cast a vote for Kucinich.  He is similar to Ralph Nader, the so-called ‘liberal’ who gave us George W. Bush in 2000.

Liberal Jew above is exactly correct.  Kucinich, like many other Americans, simply waits for incidents in which he can feel free to criticize Israel, ignoring all other abuses around the world,  I also agree Ralph Nader gave us George W. Bush, but in regard to the recent Turkish flotilla incident, I think world reaction resembles Helen Thomas, who spoke out loud what many are saying to themselves.  Anti-Jewish bigotry expresses itself often via anti-Israel rhetoric.  More evidence that Israel must endure.

I urge Democratic members of Congress to reject the reckless message Representative Dennis Kucinich is circulating, and avoid signing on to his letter.
