Adam Kredo of miJEWtiae (and Washington Jewish Week) is always worth reading. Here’s the beginning of one of his latest posts titled, “Dershowitz decries media coverage of Gaza war.”

The news media glorifies civilian death and drums up sympathy for Hamas by broadcasting images of Palestinian suffering, according to Harvard law professor and author Alan Dershowitz.

It’s difficult for Israel “to fight an enemy that wants you to kill his wife and children so they can show the dead bodies to the media,” Dershowitz said in an afternoon conference call with reporters.

While the main thrust of the call, which was sponsored by The Israel Project, was to rebuke “false and misleading assertions [made] by former President Jimmy Carter,” Dershowitz launched into a media-centric diatribe.

Hamas provoked Israeli aggression “by playing Russian Roulette with the lives of its children,” the scholar said. “They know that ultimately a democracy will have to respond to this type of provocation—Indeed that’s why they do it!”
