Today, Marc R. Stanley, Chairman of the National Jewish Democratic Council (NJDC), and Ira N. Forman, Executive Director of NJDC, released the following statement in response to numerous press reports that Eric Holder is President-elect Barack Obama’s choice for Attorney General:

President-elect Barack Obama made an excellent selection in nominating Eric Holder for Attorney General. As a former judge and top federal prosecutor, Holder’s strong leadership will restore integrity and confidence in the Department of Justice.

With a new administration and selection of Holder, we look forward to a Department of Justice based on the law and transparency, instead of secrecy and an overly expansive view of executive power.
