Grayson Hits Back

Dan Gainor of the conservative Media Research Center tweeted that he would pay $100 to anyone who punches Representative Alan Grayson (D-FL) in the nose.

Grayson said in response:

I think he (Gainor) is overlooking something important—I punch back.

And:

This is how the right wing does it. They pay people to clean for them, to cook for them, to drive for them, and now: To punch for them. Or, more specifically, to punch me for them. ... We knew they’re crazy. It turns out that they’re also lazy. Too lazy to throw a punch themselves.

Regardless of Grayson’s brash response, offering a reward to anyone for violence against an elected official is inappropriate and should be condemned by all. Violence has no place in our political system.

While Rep. Grayson’s retort is cute and catchy, it misses the danger that some crazy might take the offer at its face. We have lost enough real heroes to the vilolence of the crazies. This offer to pay someone to assault a Member of Congress is a crime. It should be reported to the FBI rather then wait for worse or more offers to be made.

Can you even imagine how the loony right wing would respond if a progressive had made the $100 offer?  The crescendo of outrage would be off the chart.  Grayson is their worst nightmare, a liberal with the stones and the spunk to get right back in their face and stand up to them.  Bullys hate that.  I’d pay a thousand dollars to see Grayson in a cage fight with O’Reilly or Limbaugh or Beck, hey, maybe even with Michelle Bachman
