Representative Gabrielle Giffords’ (D-AZ) first television interview since her shooting aired last night on ABC’s 20/20. The interview featured video of the progress that she has made on her road to recovery—including footage filmed by her husband Mark Kelly. The 20/20 episode can be viewed in full here.

During the interview, Giffords vowed to return to Congress when she is “better.” The Arizona Daily Star also published an audio message from Giffords to her constituents in which she emphasized her eagerness “to get back to work.” She said:

Hello, this is Gabby Giffords. I miss you. I miss Tucson. The mountains, the blue skies, even the heat. I’m getting stronger. I’m getting better. It’s been a hard year for all of us. Thinking about that day makes me sad. Six people died. Six innocent people. So many people hurt - there is a lot to say. I will speak better. I want to get back to work. Representing Arizona is my honor. My staff is there to help you. They keep me informed on your behalf. I miss you. I miss home. I’ll see you real soon. Thank you.
