Today, Politico asked Ira N. Forman, NJDC Executive Director, "What more, if anything, should Obama and his team be saying about the Blagojevich scandal?"
Here is Froman's answer.
There is no question that the Blagojevich scandal is enhancing the GOP's message about a Democratic "culture of corruption." It is also an unwanted distraction for an Obama team which is trying to build momentum for the President-elect's agenda.
However, there is a silver lining for Democrats. If Obama and other Democratic leadership (state as well as congressional) follow up their strong response to this scandal with a creative approach to building a zero tolerance policy within there own ranks, Democrats will avoid pitfalls down the road. The Illinois story is a strong reminder to Democrats that they must hold on to the mantle of reform if they are going to maintain a stable Democratic majority.
