Representative Eliot Engel (D-NY) visited Israel as a participant in the annual Jerusalem Conference. During his address, he firmly declared that support for Israel remains “strong” and “bipartisan” and that “there is no difference of opinion” in Congress regarding Iran.
In an interview with Arutz Sheva, Engel had this to say:
The US - Israel relationship remains strong. It doesn’t mean that from time to time there won’t be differences of opinion. It doesn’t mean that the relationship is ruptured. Israel and the US share so may common interests. I know that the Obama administration is doing a lot of positive things toward Israel.
Additionally, Engel told The Jerusalem Post‘s Shmuel Rosner that the sponsors of the recent Gaza resolution are “misinformed” legislators. Engel also said that “‘the mainstream of the party’ will keep supporting Israel unlike the ‘vocal minority.’”
As of posting, neither Arutz Sheva nor The Jerusalem Post has published transcripts of their respective interviews in English.
