Does Ahmadinejad have Jewish Roots?

Britain’s Daily Telegraph reported over the weekend that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was born Jewish and converted to Islam citing a 2008 photo showing Ahmadinejad holding up his identity card. The card listed his former last name, Sabourjian, a common Iranian Jewish last name.

The Jerusalem Post reported over the summer “that an Iranian blogger who claimed Ahmadinejad has Jewish roots was being detained by the authorities after he was arrested along with 150 university students a few days earlier, according to sources in Teheran.” The blogger was subsequently released from prison.
