Let’s take Carter Off of the “Pay Attention to” List

Ira N. Forman — June 16, 2009 – 10:13 am | Israel | Obama Comments (14) Add a comment

According to Fox News, former President Jimmy Carter will urge the Obama administration to remove Hamas from the terrorist list. Meanwhile while he was visiting Gaza, it appears as if Hamas extremists linked to Al Qaeda attempted to blow up his convoy.

Take Hamas off the terrorist list?  Here’s a better idea:  Let’s take Carter off of the “Pay Attention to” list.

Carter has been an anti-Israeli, pro-Palestinian voice for many years. What concerns him is only the Paelstinian issues; the suffering by Israeli civilians means nothing to him. I would not be surprised if he actually enjoys when Israelis are hurt. Taking him off the list of People To Consider is long overdue.

Good for you!

Carter has been anti-Israel for too many years. He is a meddler in world affairs and his statements should be put down as the rantings of a has-been who wants to be noticed. He can’t stand not being in the limelight.

I’d love to see the Democratic party disown members who demonize Israelis and Jews.  The party has been too accomodating to those with such odious views.

Maybe Carter should move to Gaza, or to Sderot and then be asked he opinion regarding Hamas and terrorism.

Agreed.
We have seen how his appearance at “fair” elections turns out - like in Venezuela.  We lived there and still have acquaintances there.  What a joke that last election he oversaw turned out to be.

I’m completely disappointed In Carter and have lost all respect for him.

Carter had a failed presidency, and now is trying to enhance his political standing by beating up on Israel.  Likely now has a touch of Alzheimer disease.  He certainly does not know history, as his book and critical reviews have shown.  He should be ignored,

Why is it okay for Israelis to take over Palestinian land for settlements but not okay for Palestinians to keep their land?

Carter must have had some kind of stroke or something.  Maybe he got taken over by aliens when he was sleeping.  Oh man, that’s it.  That wasn’t a giant peanut shell by his bed after all!  It was his pod!  Seriously, he is just too wacked out at this point for anyone to seriously listen to him.  I just hope no brave Americans in his security detail get hurt when his “buds” at Hamas give him their “ied” welcome

Slamming Jimmy Carter is counter-productive to Jewish interests.  He speaks for many people, in this country and elsewhere.

It’s interesting that the recent election in Lebanon was influenced for the better by what Carter and, more importantly, Obama have said.

We cannot be seen internationally as supporting Israel no matter what they say and do.  We need to be even-handed.

As a longtime, committed Dem, I will say that Carter worried me when he ran for president.  Ford is the only Republican candidate who got my vote.

Bobbi Mendelson | June 19, 2009 – 10:38 pm

It is evident that Pres. Carter has lost his objectivity and credibility. His present anit Israeli rants and latest suggestion of removing Hamas as a terrorist organization will affect his legacy as a peace maker.
I would love to get my hands upon the evidence of the influx of Arab oil money into his coffeers.

Is Carter a sore looser desperate for public attention? Or hopelessly naive provincial southern gentelmen with a touch of antisemitism? I am not sure which possibility is scarier, as he *was* US president.  I can’t think of a single person I talked to who takes him seriously: dems, republicans, liberal, conservative—rolls their eyes and shake their heads.
