Barak: “There’s Nothing to be Alarmed About” on “Ambiguity” Policy

Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak was recently asked during a radio interview if President Barack Obama is changing the current U.S. policy of ambiguity towards Israel’s supposed nuclear weapons program. Barak denied reports of any change when he said:

“I don’t believe so. I spoke at length with President Obama about such issues just 10 days ago. … There’s nothing to be alarmed about. There is no real threat to the traditional position and understandings between Israel and the United States.”

Barak also said of the “ambiguity” policy:

“This is a good policy and there is no reason to change it. There is complete agreement with the United States on this question. … There is no threat over the traditional agreements between Israel and the United States on this issue.”
