Send a Thank You Letter To Obama for Pulling Out of Durban II

Last week, President Barack Obama decided to withdraw from the United Nations Conference against racism (also know as Durban II), which is scheduled to be held in Geneva in April 2009. As the President promised during last year’s campaign, that the United States would not participate in the Durban II agenda if it were to become a forum for anti-Israel rants.

It was not surprising that the President’s knee-jerk critics, many of whom are in our own community, could not wait for last week’s announcement before accusing the Obama administration of bowing to anti-Semitism. Richard Heideman, a Republican-leaning Jewish activist, predicted, “the chances that U.S. President Barack Obama will boycott a conference against racism are slim….because that’s his mindset.” Another anti-Obama partisan said, “What is new is that the new president of the United States doesn’t care about the U.N.‘s reincarnation of ‘Zionism is racism.’”

Complete nonsense.

Yesterday, Ira Forman wrote a piece in the Huffington Post about Obama’s decision and why his critics’ predictions were wrong.

Now is the time to speak out.

Thank the President for standing by his commitment to combating anti-Semitism and withdrawing America’s participation from Durban II. Let President Barack Obama know that you support this decision, and send a letter to him now.

Thank you for pulling out of Durban II and not being a part of a forum that will espouse anti-Zionism and anti-Semitism.

thank you for your early pull-out from the Durban II conference - run by the most oppressive, racist and misogynistic regimes in the world - to castigate Israel which threatens them by it’s liberal and socially advanced policies. Israel is far from perfect - but let the country “without sin” throw the first stone. Again, Thank you.
