Marc R. Stanley, Chairman of the National Jewish Democratic Council (NJDC), released the following statement:

The National Jewish Democratic Council (NJDC) congratulates Benjamin Netanyahu on forming a coalition government and becoming the new Prime Minister of Israel.

Just as President Barack Obama faces complex challenges as the leader of our nation, we recognize that Prime Minister Netanyahu will also face difficult challenges in Israel – particularly within the constraints of a coalition government. However, it is clear that the Obama Administration is committed to working with the Israeli government toward peace with the Palestinians and throughout the region. Similarly, we embrace Prime Minster Netanyahu’s commitment that “Israel will be ready to make extensive efforts on behalf of a genuine peace.”

NJDC remains firmly committed to supporting the longstanding friendship and strategic alliance between the United States and Israel in securing peace and stability in the region.
