Today, Marc R. Stanley, Chairman of the National Jewish Democratic Council (NJDC), released the following statement:

The National Jewish Democratic Council (NJDC) is grateful for the interim appointment by Governor Deval Patrick (D-MA) of Paul Kirk to fill the Senate seat vacated by the late Senator Edward Kennedy (D-MA). There is no question that Kirk will have big shoes to fill. As a close friend and confidant of Kennedy, we are confident that Kirk will carry on the late Senator’s legacy.

The Senate faces too many historic and important decisions for any one state to be left without two senators at this time. Kirk is an excellent selection to continue Kennedy’s life’s work on the Senate floor and with the people he served.
