Marc R. Stanley, Chairman of the National Jewish Democratic Council (NJDC) released the following statement:

The National Jewish Democratic Council (NJDC) welcomes the appointment of Rep. Kirsten Gillibrand as the next U.S. Senator from New York.  We are delighted that Governor David Paterson selected such a talented individual who will live up to the legacies of previous seat holders, including Hillary Clinton, Daniel Patrick Moynihan, and Robert F. Kennedy.

Gillibrand has successfully represented the needs and concerns of the people of New York’s 20th Congressional District, and we know she will do the same for the entire state of New York. NJDC looks forward to working with Gillibrand and welcomes her as the newest U.S. Senator.
