Time Magazine's Teddy Awards celebrate those who have displayed great levels of political courage within the past year. With the debate surrounding the Iran deal growing more and more heated, proclaiming support for the Iran nuclear agreement often meant dealing with a great amount of vicious rhetoric, as it was a particularly difficult issue in our community.
Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.) was one who strongly came out in support of the deal and in return received a significant amount of hateful rhetoric directed toward him. We did not let that go on unnoticed. Neither did Time Magazine in this year's Teddy Awards, where they recognized him:
"...we’d be remiss not to acknowledge Congressman Jerrold Nadler of New York, who, despite a heavily Jewish constituency, supported the Iran deal–he should accept his Teddy for all those other Democrats who refused to be bullied on this issue."
We at NJDC commend Congressman Nadler for his courage, as it is that type of courage and dedication that make us proud to have him as a representative in Congress.
