Jewish Values on Display in Democratic Debate

This evening, the National Jewish Democratic Council congratulates the candidates on stage at the Democratic debate and released the following statement.

“For Jewish voters, tonight’s debate couldn’t have been more of a contrast to the stream of right wing rhetoric and policies that came from the Republican debates – and which remains treif to the vast majority of Jewish voters. Jewish Americans continue to be among the most steadfast supporters of the Democratic Party and the values it represents,” said Greg Rosenbaum, chair of NJDC. “On issues ranging from a woman’s right to make her own healthcare decisions and LGBT equality to support for Israel and working to prevent a nuclear armed Iran, our community continues to find a home among these Democratic candidates.”

Polling shows that 81% of all Jewish Americans favor increasing the tax rate on Americans earning more than $1 million a year, 93% of all Jewish Americans agree that abortion should be legal in all or most cases, and that 81% of all Jewish Americans favor allowing gay and lesbian couples to marry legally.
